The Florida Gators are the top overall seed in the NCAA Tournament for only the second time in their history, but yet many insiders and analysts are not picking the Gators to win it all in Dallas on April 7th. Some have said that while Florida’s defense is one of the best in the country, the possibility of a bad offensive night is what could be the nail in the Gators’ field of 68 coffin.
ESPN NCAA basketball analyst Jay Bilas joined WDAE’s ‘The Ron and Ian Show’ on Wednesday and said while he isn’t picking Florida to win it all, the Gators do have a lot going for them.
“I think Florida’s the best team and I think they’re the safest pick to win this whole thing,” said Bilas. “I took Kansas to make it to the Final Four out of the south, even though I know that Florida is the safer pick.”
Bilas believes that Florida and Wichita State are the two teams most alike in the tournament due to the cool calm demeanor of both teams, plus with their senior leadership. Bilas has picked Michigan State to win the NCAA Tournament due to the fact that they’re becoming healthy at the right time for a strong push in March.
