With two preseason games to go, the Bucs are getting down to business.  Head coach Lovie Smith wants to set his starting lineup in stone.

Problem is, injuries are a factor.  Cornerbacks Alterraun Verner and Mike Jenkins have been injured much of the season.  On Monday, Lovie said he was confident that Verner would return to practice on Tuesday.

The Bucs are treating this week leading up to the 3rd preseason game like a normal game week during the regular season.

"This is the week we're gearing towards," Lovie said during his Monday press conference heard on 620am WDAE and 95.3FM.

"First off, the guys lining up with the first group-- there's a reason why they're there," Lovie opined.  "It's not like we're going to do an awful lot in that last preseason game. So for our players-- if they're going to play against Carolina, we need to see them now."

Verner would fit into that category.  Ditto Jenkins.  Both are being relied on to become starters.

As for the offensive line, Lovie was pleased with the progress they showed against Miami.  But he refused to name the starting guards for Saturday's preseason game at Buffalo.
