Angels Rally Past Rays In 9th

The Los Angeles Angels (9-9) rallied to a 5-4 win over the Rays (10-9) on Wednesday night at Tropicana Field. The Angels have now won two of the first three games against Tampa Bay with the series finale scheduled for Thursday.

The Angels took a 3-1 lead in the top of the sixth before Randy Arozarena drove in a run in the bottom of the sixth to pull within 3-2. They then took the lead in the eighth inning when Amed Roasario hit a two-run blast to give the Rays a 4-3 lead.

The Angels answered in the top of the ninth with RBI singles from Anthony Rendon and Taylor Ward to give Los Angeles a 5-4 lead. Closer Pete Fairbanks (0-2, 9.00) blew the save in the ninth inning allowing both earned runs on three hits while striking out none and walking two.

The Rays look to salvage a split against the Angels in the finale on Thursday afternoon. First pitch is scheduled for 1:10 PM - pregame coverage begins with Ronnie Lane hosting the Inside Pitch at high noon on 95.3 WDAE & AM 620, your Home of Rays Baseball.
