Brooksville, Fla.-(Newsradio 970 WFLA)-A student at Hernando High School has been arrested for making threats to shoot up the school. The threats were made by text message.
Hernando County deputies say two of the students who received the texts turned them over to School Resource Deputy Bill Pope. Detectives immediately launched an investigation that led them to 17 year-old James Fletcher Dampier, Junior.
Dampier, who is suspended from school for another matter, admitted to sending the texts and said he planned to carry out the threats. Dampier told deputies he did not have a gun, but was planning to borrow or purchase a gun.
Dampier is charged with two counts of making written threats to kill or injure.
