TAMPA, Fla. (AP) - A Tampa jury will resume hearing testimony in the trial of a mother accused of shooting and killing her two teenagers.

Julie Schenecker's defense attorneys are scheduled to present their case on Friday.

On Wednesday, the state rested its case, and Hillsborough County Judge Emmett Battles gave the jury Thursday off.

Schenecker is charged with two counts of first-degree murder. Prosecutors are not seeking the death penalty, but say the 53-year-old military wife planned the 2011 slayings.

Her attorneys say she has suffered from bipolar disorder and depression for years.

Schenecker's ex-husband testified that his wife had been mentally ill but he had no safety concerns leaving the teens with her while he was deployed overseas. The two were married when the children were killed but divorced later that year.
