INDIAN ROCKS BEACH, Fla. (970 WFLA) – Pinellas County Sheriff’s deputies are investigating a drowning incident at the beach near the 1300 block of Gulf Boulevard.

Deputies say a 45-year-old man had been playing with his kids at the beach, when he decided to go for a swim. A fisherman located him unresponsive in the water, pulled him out, and then deputies say they responded and initiated CPR just before 7 p.m.

The man was then transported to Largo Medical Center for treatment of life-threatening injuries, deputies say, and he was pronounced deceased at the hospital just after at 8 p.m.
