ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (970 WFLA) – Pinellas County deputies say they arrested two 16-year-old boys in connection with firing multiple rounds from a vehicle early Wednesday morning.

Deputies say they got the call at about 3:00 a.m.

Deputies said according to the caller, someone fired multiple rounds out of the vehicle in the area of 62nd Ave. N. and 28th St. PCSO said the caller began to follow the vehicle at a safe distance until deputies caught up with the suspect vehicle which was travelling eastbound on Park Boulevard.

When authorities tried to stop the vehicle, it fled, and the driver then drove off the roadway into a ditch at the intersection of Gandy Boulevard and 9th St. The passenger remained behind, and deputies said the driver fled on foot. However, K-9 officers then found the driver at a local apartment complex, deputies said.

The gun was recovered and according to deputies, it was listed as stolen from a Seminole residential burglary. Detectives from the sheriff's burglary and pawn unit are at this time investigating this aspect of the case, PCSO said.
