A backlash has started after a Marine Biologist took a photo of a dead shark washed up on a shore with a woman in it for scale.
Many were quick to criticize the photo, which was shared by TV station KSBW, saying the image was inappropriate and insensitive to the animal. Marine Biologist Giancarlo Thomae, who took the photo, is defending the picture, saying the woman was laying there to show scale.
