Pinellas County Lacks Funding For School Resource Officers

  • Sheriff Gualtieri believes it will cost $20 million a year for the 150+ school resource officers that would be needed to have one in ever Pinellas County school
  • The county is currently over $12 million short on funding with a July 1st deadline to solve the problem
  • Gualtieri isn't opposed to having certain school personnel be armed but wants law enforcement officials to be the first line of defense
