Forecasters still predicting below-average hurricane season

Hurricane expert Dr. Phil Klotzbach of Colorado State University says the month of August is beginning with a continuation of cooler-than-normal Atlantic waters.  And wind shear in the Caribbean.

There's already been three named storms this season.  And so, he's updated his forecast to include nine more named storms this season with three more hurricanes and one of them becoming a category three or higher.

In other words, Klotzbach says this will likely be a below-average hurricane season.  But the peak of the season is still ahead, and Klotzbach says...don't let your guard down.  He says there was only one major hurricane in 1992, and Hurricane Andrew is still considered one of the most devastating hurricanes on record.
