Katie, a producer on AM Tampa Bay, was leaving the radio station this morning, when the weirdest chain of events happened to her, as she tried to exit the radio station parking lot.
A lanyard, from one of the many events that the radio station has hosted, was hanging from her rear view mirror. As she turned to make her exit from the parking lot, the lanyard swung over and caught on her cruise control, sending her car into a spin, resulting in a collision with a pole.
In the process, the steering column now attached to the rear view mirror, and Katie fighting it for control, tore the rear view mirror off. Which isn't that odd considering the circumstances, but it didn't just tear the mirror off, it took a chunk of glass off with it, leaving a divot.
