Tigers Take Opener From Rays

The Detroit Tigers (13-10) defeated the Tampa Bay Rays (12-12) 7-1 on Monday evening at Tropicana Field.

The Tigers got to Rays starter Zack Littell (1-1, 3.33) for six runs - five of them earned - on nine hits. They built a 7-0 lead after seven innings before the Rays got on the board with a solo homer from Jose Caballero in the eighth inning.

The Rays now look to even the three-game series against the Tigers on Tuesday night. Ryan Pepiot (2-2, 4.37) is scheduled to start for Tampa Bay and face Kenta Maeda (0-1, 7.64) for Detroit.
