Woman Carjacked In Ruskin

Ruskin, Fla.(NewsRadio WFLA)-The unidentified victim was approached by a Hispanic male in the parking lot of the Dollar General on College Avenue in Ruskin Tuesday morning asking her for 50 cents.

When she reached into her purse for the change, the suspect identified as 30 year old Raul Perez attacked her and pushed her backwards. As she stumbled, he grabbed the keys to her car from her hand.

Perez allegedly took off in the woman's 2014 Ford Escape, heading west on College Avenue, ultimately crashing the car, a mile and a half away into a ditch near College Avenue and 18th street SE.

Neighbors told deputies he ran inside a nearby duplex, Deputies found Perez inside the home. He tried to hide in the attic and fell through the roof.

Perez is now facing one count of carjacking.
