Drejka trial set for August, 2019

The hearing only lasted 14 minutes.  But Pinellas Circuit Judge Joseph Bulone did set a trial date in Michael Drejka's manslaughter case.

It'll take place beginning August 19th of next year.

Drejka's lawyers also indicate they plan to challenge prosecutors' intent to present as a witness a man who claims he had a confrontation with Drejka over the same Clearwater convenience store handicapped parking space which touched off last July's incident.  That ended in the shooting death of Markeis McGlockton.

Drejka maintains he shot McGlockton in self-defense, but prosecutors say surveillance video shows McGlockton starting to back away when he was shot.
