St. Pete Police Working Big Traffic Operation

Saint Petersburg Police

St. Petersburg, Fla.-(Newsradio 970 WFLA)-Police here have been working an operation this week to help prevent traffic fatalities.  The effort comes after the city has seen a significant increase in fatal traffic crashes this year.

The fatality prevention operation seems to be working as police have issued 17 moving violations, one non-moving violation, three criminal citations, 4 motorist warnings, 9 pedestrian warnings, 1 pedestrian citation and two warrant arrests.

St. Pete P.D. plans to target impaired and distracted drivers as the national Drive Sober of Get Pulled Over campaign kicks-off Thursday.

On  Friday, police will focus on vehicle, bicycle and pedestrian violations.  That enforcement effort will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
