Two Dead Burned Beyond Recognition After Single Car Crash In St Petersburg

St. Petersburg, Fla. (970 WFLA)-Two people are dead after a single car crash in St. Petersburg.  

Police say around 3:23 this morning  a white 2016 Mazda Miata was westbound at a high rate of speed on 38th Ave North.  As it was approaching 49th Street North, the driver lost control, swerved off the road and hit a tree.  The car immediately caught fire.  When police arrived the driver and passenger were burned beyond recognition.   Police say the car had been reported stolen hours earlier.

The driver and passenger have not been identified.
