SEBRING, Fla. (970 WFLA) - A dragster crash at Sebring International Raceway has killed a popular driver.
Katrina Moller, 24, was performing a practice run Thursday night when her jet car was making a turn, according to the Highlands County Sheriff's Office.
Investigators are asking anyone with video of the crash to call the Sheriff's Office.
In a Facebook post, the Sebring International Raceway issued this statement: "Moller, who went by the nickname Kat, was a regular, and very popular, racer at local short tracks and a driver for Larsen Motorsports in the jet dragster. She was in her fifth season with Larsen."
Moller, a Sarasota native, said on a Facebook post that she learned to race in Bradenton. The jet dragsters are narrow cars with rocket-type engines that blast the vehicles out of the starting line, and can reach speeds of 300 miles per hour.
