Lakeland, Fla.-(Newsradio 970 WFLA)-Polk County deputies say the discovery of a man and a woman inside a house in the 23 hundred block of 10th Street, West, here is the result of a murder and a suicide.
Deputies responded to the home on a domestic violence call and found 40 year-old Antero Araujo Quintana and 42 year-old Beatriz Araujo down with gunshot wounds. Investigators say Araujo Quintana was dead at the scene. Beatriz Araujo died later at Lakeland Regional Health Center.
Detectives have determined that Araujo Quintana shot his wife and then shot himself. No word yet on what caused the incident.
Deputies say the shooting was witnessed by the couple's 21 year-old son. The couple's two other children were waiting in the family truck and did not witness the shootings.
