Tampa Man Accused of Killing 3 Linemen in Michael Zone


UPDATE: 22 year old Ryan Barrett died of his injuries Thursday morning. 

Chipley, Fla. (970 WFLA)-The names of the three linemen who were hit by a car driven by a Bay area  man who left the scene have been released. 

The highway patrol  says 52 year old George Cecil of Cole Rain, North Carolina, and 60 year old James Ussery of Chipley, were killed in the crash.22 year old Ryan Barrett of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina suffered critical injuries.  

The three men were working on power poles along State Road 77, when a Ford F-150 pulling a U-Haul trailer, driven by 37 year old John Goedtke of Thonotossa, veered off the road onto the grassy shoulder and ran into the three men. 

Goedtke's truck crashed  in a ditch, he jumped out and ran, and was later found and arrested near Chipley by a Washington County Sheriff's Deputy. 

Mr.Ussery is employed by the West Florida Electric Cooperative.  Mr. Barrett and Mr.Cecil are employed by Lee Electric Construction.

Goedtke is no stranger to the Hillsborough Sheriff's Office. He's been arrested more than 27 times since 2000, for a long list of crimes.
