Oktoberfest, Hogwarts and Sesame Street: This Weekend in Tampa

MUSIC

Kid Rock and Brantley Gilbert team up for what’s being called the “Red Blooded Rock ‘n’ Roll Redneck Extravaganza” this Friday at the MidFlorida Credit Union Amphitheatre. 

Country Music on the Bay Festival comes to Vinoy Park this Sunday. Jerrod Niemann,Scotty McCreery and Wynonna and the Big Noise at the inaugural concert. Get there early, because the day starts at noon with a hot dog-eating contest! 

Romeo Santos is at at Amalie Arena this Friday. This Latin superstar has sold out stadiums around the world with his old band Aventura, and now he's  headlining on his own. 

 

SHOWS

The Florida Orchestra Presents: Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. The third movie in the Harry Potter movie comes to the Straz Center while the Florida Orchestra plays the score behind the film.

Eddie Izzard, iconic stand up, actor is known for performing in makeup and heels, and he is strutting into Tampa at Ruth Eckerd Hall. He's adapting his bestselling memoir into a stage show here he tells funny stories about his life this Sunday at 8 p.m. 

FOR THE KIDS 

Sesame Street Live brings Elmo, Big Bird and the whole crew to the Yuengling Center (formerly University of South Florida Sun Dome) for a brand-new stage show 'Sesame Street Live!' Buckle up the kids and head over from Friday through Sunday.

THIS WEEK IN DRESS-UP

Check out Oktoberfest events all across Tampa! Grab your lederhosen and your Bavarian skirts, and get ready for pretzels and beer!

Curtis Hixon Park: Tampa’s waterfront park transforms into a giant beer garden with traditional dancing, live music, Bavarian games, stein hoisting, keg stacking, tug of war, brat toss and carry the wench Friday-Sunday.

German American Society: Pinellas Park has the longest-running festival with more than 60 years of live oompah music, keg tappings, a parade, dancers, imported beers, authentic cuisine and German vendors.

Indian Rocks Beach: Oktoberfest on the Beach on Saturday.

Fergtoberfest at Fergs Sports Bar: Fergs in St. Pete, with German food, contests, a Lederhosen dance off, games, axe throwing, raffles and giveaways on Saturday.

Hofbrauhaus: The gorgeous beer hall in downtown St. Pete has nightly music and dancing and the Bier Olympics this weekend.

Tierra Verde and Tarpon Springs: Huge parties next weekend Oct. 19-20.
