Security Breach Could Affect Thousands In St. Petersburg

St. Petersburg, Fla.(970 WFLA)-Thousands of people in St. Petersburg could be the victims of a security breach.  City officials  announced malicious software, or malware, was found on the website Click2Gov that residents use to pay utility bills and other fees.

The breach dates back to August,  but it was not discovered until last week.  The city estimates up to 28-thousand people may be affected.  The city's Ben Kirby says the problem's been fixed.  But, if you used a credit card to pay any online utility bills, traffic tickets or bought building permits using 'go-2-gov' between August 11th and September 27th, check your account carefully and report any theft to the Federal Trade Commission at 1-877-ID Theft.
