Woman, 62, Struck and Killed by Car in St. Pete

St. Petersburg, Fla. (970 WFLA) - A car struck and killed a woman trying to cross a busy street Saturday night, police said. The 62-year-old woman, whom police did not identify in a news release, was crossing 34th Street South when the car approaching the intersection of 46th Avenue South driven by Jonte Johnson-Payne, 30, hit her and threw her to the ground. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Police had not located her relatives to notify of her death as of Sunday morning.
