Declining Demand Drives Down Gas Prices

Tampa, Fla.-(Newsradio 970 WFLA)-Gasoline prices here in Florida are starting the downward trend now that the vacation season has ended and demand is down. Florida gas prices have dropped by two cents in a week's time according to AAA in Tampa.

AAA spokesman Mark Jenkins says the state average is on a streak of declines, falling 23 consecutive days for a total of nine cents. But, the average driver is paying 27 cents per gallon more than this time a year ago. 

The most expensive gas prices in Florida are in the West Palm-Boca Raton area at $2.84.  The least expensive gas can be found in the Tampa-St. Petersburg-Clearwater area at $2.63 for a gallon of regular.
