Car Kills Woman Pushing Stroller in Tarpon Springs

Tarpon Springs, Fla. (970 WFLA) - A woman pushing a baby stroller died after a car struck her along US-19 Saturday morning, Tarpon Springs Police said.

Tymira Latrel Leverson, 27, walked south with her two-year-old daughter, Deava Dixon, in the stroller as her six-year-old son and another child that age alongside her on US-19 near Pine St. just after 6 a.m. when the accident happened. A pickup truck entered the turn lane to make a right onto Pine Street, did not see any of the pedestrians and struck Leverson.

Police say that Joseph Vitale, 33, of New Port Richey stopped the truck, tried to help, and has cooperated with investigators. Leverson succumbed to her injuries at 8:44 a.m. The investigation continues, according to a news release from Tarpon Springs Police, but they have not filed any charges.
