Police in Texas are searching for a mysterious woman after she rang the doorbell at a home in Montgomery County around 3:20 a.m. wearing a t-shirt and what appeared to be restraints around her wrists.
The unexpected visitor woke the homeowner up after she rang the doorbell 20 to 30 times, but by the time he answered the door the woman was gone. He then checked the surveillance video and sent it to the police. The seven-second video, which was uploaded to YouTube by the Sheriff's office, captured the woman walking up to the home and ringing the doorbell but cuts off before she disappears.
“It was kind of scary because this girl looked like she was just in a shirt. She looked like she had wrist restraints on her wrist and she was barefoot. You can see her with a worry on her face looking around,” the resident told KPRC.
The woman reportedly rang the bell of five different homes in the subdivision but was gone by the time the residents came to their doors. Police interviewed the neighbors and reviewed surveillance footage from other homes and businesses in the area, but have yet to identify the woman. They said that she did not match anybody in the missing persons database and are asking the public for help.
After they shared the video online, they received numerous tips, including one that suggested she was from Canada. Lieutenant Scott Spencer cautioned residents to call 911 if they see the woman, and warned that she could be part of a scheme to break into area homes.
“Answer the door, but call from the other side of the door don't actually open the door. Unfortunately, times have changed from yesterday, so you have to be very careful we have had a lot of home invasions,” Spencer said.
