Lutz, Fla.(970 WFLA)-A police stand off in Lutz, has ended.
The Hillsborough Sheriffs Office says around 2 am, a suicidal man identified as 44 year old Serkan Ceylani, stabbed his mother with a screw driver several times and then barricaded himself inside the bathroom of the home in the 19000 block of Garden Quilt Circle, in the neighborhood of Rosa Villa.
Residents of near-by homes were evacuated as members of the Hillsborough County Sheriff's SWAT team, and crisis intervention team attempted to talk with Ceylani.
After he refused to come out, tear gas canisters were sent through the window of the bathroom, allowing enough time for the SWAT team to move in.
According to Hillsborough Sheriff's Spokesperson Danny Alvarez, Ceylani still refused to cooperate with officers and had to be tazed before he could be removed from the home.
Ceylani's at the hospital being treated for self inflicted stab wounds to his neck. His mother remains in stable condition at St. Josephs Hospital.
