Bar Patrons Tackle Gunman Who Tried To Rob Them

A man who pointed a gun at several patrons standing in the parking lot of a bar in Southern California found himself in jail after he was tackled and restrained by the very people he was trying to rob, the San Diego Union-Tribune reported.

Sheriff's officials say a man pulled a gun from his waistband and aimed it at several people who were standing outside the Red Eye Saloon around 2 a.m. Saturday in Fallbrook, demanding their wallets and cellphones. At one point, authorities say the man even fired a shot into the air.

But instead of handing over their wallets, several patrons rushed and tackled the gunman, holding him to the ground until deputies arrived.

Deputies searched the man and discovered he was carrying a 9mm pistol with a loaded 16-round magazine, and two additional loaded 10-round magazines in his pocket.

He was arrested on several charges and booked into the Vista jail.
