Eighty Animals Found Inside North Port Woman's Home

North Port, Fla. (970 WFLA)-A cat found malnourished and lying in its own excrement is just one example of why a Sarasota County woman is facing animal cruelty charges.

Fifty five year old Shirley Duncan of North Port was arrested this week after more than 80 animals were found in her home on Granada Drive.  The cat did not survive, but all 54 others found in the home are now in the custody of animal services, along with 23 mice, three ferrets and two dogs.

Duncan was released Tuesday morning on $2,000 bond.
