Pinellas students will start class a little bit later in the fall

Pinellas superintendant Michael Grego tells school board members it's time the district allow students to start school earlier.

Following a series of workshops and public hearings, board members decided to push back those start times by only 10 or 15 minutes.

That means most Pinellas elementary and middle schools will start 10 minutes later at 8:45 and 9:40 a.m. respectively.  High schools will begin class 15 minutues later at 7:20.

Several months ago, Hillsborough school board members changed the start times for the coming year.  Hillsborough elementary and middle school students will be starting school earlier and high schools later in the morning.
