Murder Arrest, 2½ Years Later

WESLEY CHAPEL (970 WFLA) -- Pasco deputies have arrested a Wesley Chapel man for the murder of his live in girlfriend, two and a half years ago.

According to the Sheriff's Office, 34 year old Patrick Whyte told detectives that Kristen Moon injured herself by jumping out of a car, after they went to a restaurant in Tampa in June of 2015. But Sergeant Michael Rosa, who interviewed Whyte,  says witnesses told them another story.

"During our investigation, we discovered that there was a domestic violence incident at Hyde Park Cafe..,. in which (Whyte) had taken (Moon) into his vehicle against her will and started to beat her." Rosa says several witnesses told them about the incident.

After extensive submission of numerous evidence samples to a crime lab, detectives concluded that Moon's fatal injuries were inconsistent with a traffic incident. She died a day after the "accident" at a Pasco hospital.
