Clearwater, FL (970 WFLA) - The Coast Guard medevaced an injured man on a fishing boat in Gulf waters about 80 miles west of Hernando County Thursday afternoon.
The 28-year-old man had fallen on the 70-foot commercial fishing boat, The Rooster, and was complaining of rib pain. Crew members called the U.S. Coast Guard Sector St. Petersburg via marine band radio to report the incident. The Coast Guard notified a flight surgeon, who recommended the man be medevaced.
An MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter arrived, hoisted the injured crewmember, and transported him to Tampa General Hospital. There is no word on the extent of the man's injury.
