Wal-Mart Stores Legally Changing Name To Walmart

You won't have Wal-Mart Stores to kick around any more, at least by name.  The mega-retailer today says it is changing its legal name to simply Walmart, no hyphen, and no "stores" at the end.  President and CEO Doug McMillon said the change will help the company shift to selling both on and offline.  He said the change is consistent with the idea people can shop Walmart however they like as a customer.  The retailer has been increasing its online presence to battle competitors Amazon and Target.

The change is effective February 1st and ends 48 years of the use of Wal-Mart Stores, Inc.
