Clearwater, Fla.-(Newsradio 970 WFLA)-Police had to shoot a man early this morning at the Sands Apartments on Druid Road.
Police Chief Dan Slaughter says an officer shot 34 year-old Mitchell Fox after Fox came at officers with a gun. Officers say Fox also refused commands to drop his weapon. Fox died later at the hospital.
Police say they got a call from Fox's wife saying her husband was armed and was threatening to kill himself. The Fox family had just moved to Clearwater from Kentucky.
The officer involved has been placed on paid administrative leave. A shooting investigation is underway.
