Weekiwachee Fire Still A Problem

Hernando Beach, Fla.-(Newsradio 970 WFLA)-Hernando County Fire Rescue continues to work with the Florida Forest Service and other agencies to contain and control an 11 hundred acre wildfire in the Weekiwachee Preserve.

The so called "Water tower fire" is 75 percent contained, but remains dangerous because of dry conditions in the area.  Smoke from the fire is also a problem.  People with respiratory problems are asked to stay indoors to avoid any problems.

There are still some road closures in the area and Hernando County deputies are allowing only residents with I.D.s into the area.

Lightning is getting the blame for the fire.
