When the Storm return from their bye week and enter the final three-game stretch of the regular season, they'll have a new option along the defensive line.
A new, big option.
Ishmyl Johnson, a 6-foot-5, 325-pound tackle, signed Tuesday. He will be making his Arena Football League debut.
Johnson played for Michigan State before transferring to Benedict College and has experience in other indoor leagues.
The Storm reassigned DL Rashaad Dukes, who made one tackle in one game, as well WR Chris Slaughter who did not suit up.
Tampa Bay returns to action Friday, July 11 at San Jose. Darek Sharp and Jason Dixon will have the play-by-play on sister station 1250 WHNZ. Kickoff is at 10:30 p.m.
The Storm (8-7) currently hold the fourth and final playoff spot in the American Conference. The key game during the bye will be Orlando-Philadelphia on Monday night. If Orlando (8-6) wins the Storm would have slim hopes of winning the Southern Division, and right to host a playoff game, but at the same time would have a Wild Card virtually locked up.
Should Philly (7-8) win the Storm would have better hopes for the division title but at the same time would have a tougher battle on their hands for playoff qualification, in the form of Philadelphia.
