For the second week in a row the Storm could not come up with a defensive stop until the final minutes, when it was too late. Spokane handed the Storm their third straight loss, 53-41 at Tampa Bay Times Forum.

Spokane's defensive line turned up the pressure in the second half as Tampa Bay only scored twice. Tampa Bay's lone stop came with a minute left after Spokane had halted the Storm's previous two drives.
It was an even first half but Tampa Bay faltered after taking over with :30 left, Randy Hippeard throwing an interception as the Storm drove for at least a field goal try. Tampa Bay was up 27-26 at the break, and the teams went back and forth unttil Spokane got the first true stop of the with a little more than six minutes remaining.
The Storm host Portland next week. Portland defeated Jacksonville Saturday for its first win of the season.
Randy Hippeard threw for 302 yards and four scores.
