The seconds continue to countdown to the 4pm eastern time on Thursday and MLB’s trade deadline, and the Rays are right in the middle of the rumor swirl.  With team after team reportedly interested in the services for David Price, the Rays recent winning ways have made things more difficult for Rays General Manager Andrew Friedman as to if we will pull the trigger on a trade.

ESPN’s MLB insider Jerry Crasnick joined WDAE’s ‘The Ron and Ian Show’ on Tuesday and spoke to how a trade could affect the Rays recent momentum swing in a positive direction.

“One of the great things about the Rays when you go down there and talk to players is they do feel a sense of obligation to take advantage of the window of opportunity they have,” said Crasnick.  “Not only the players but Joe Maddon and the coaching staff, what kind of message are you sending to them when you have a team that’s probably the best team in baseball right now and you’re making this huge charge.  You can’t think of anything that’s more deflating to a team than to say that your former Cy Young winner has just been traded.”
