The Tampa Bay Rays won their first series in nearly a month this past weekend taking two of three games from the Houston Astros in heart of Texas.  However while that is a positive for the Rays moving into a ten game home stand, the team still stands at 13 ½ games back in the American League East and ten games out of a wild card birth.

Rays television analyst Todd Kalas told WDAE’s ‘The Ron and Ian Show’ that the time is now for the Rays to begin making up ground in both races.

“I’ll be curious to see to what happens during this home stand,” said Kalas.  “You don’t want to say that this is the last stand, but in my mind this is the last stand.  You’ve had 18 out of 21 at home and you’ve already gone 2-6 on the first eight games of this home stretch.  And if you don’t make something happen during this ten game home stand, now you’re at the mid way point and you’re looking at a way too big a hill to climb.”

The Rays will head back to Tampa Bay to begin a 10-game home stand on Monday against the Baltimore Orioles.  Tampa Bay will send Jake Odorizzi to the mound to pitch against Wei Yin Chen for Baltimore.
