The Rays come out swinging early vs Tanaka, but the end result is a 9-3 loss to Yankees.

Desmond Jennings hit a homerun in the first inning to take an early 1-0 lead. Followed was an RBI single by Hanigan in the 2nd inning and a solo HR by Myers in the 4th. A 3-0 lead felt good against the talented Masahiro Tanaka.

The Yankees were able to power back, however. Teixeira started off with a 2-run homerun in the 4th inning. Ellsbury knocked an RBI double in the 5th. Then Kelly Johnson hit a solo homerun in the 6th.

With the Yanks only up a run, the Rays surely believe they were still in this thing. That was until the Bronx Bombers scored five runs in two innings, two in the seventh by an RBI single from Teixeira and a sac fly from Soriano. Three came in the eighth from an Ichiro RBI double and a 2-RBI single from Gardner.

Josh Lueke got the loss.
