FOX Sports Ken Rosenthal is reporting Tampa Bay Rays shortstop Yunel Escobar has been claimed on revocable waivers by the Oakland Athletics.  The two teams now have a Tuesday at 1 p.m. deadline to work a deal.

Revocable waivers are how teams can still make trades during August when a player can be placed on waivers, while opposing teams all have a chance to place a claim.  The order of who could actually claim a player on waivers is worst-to-best record in the player's league and then worst-to-best in the opposing league.

Escobar is in his second year with the Rays and entered Sunday hitting .250/.315/.316 with four homers and 31 RBI. He has a two-year, $13 million deal with a club option for 2017 that begins next season.
