The Tampa Bay Rays have made their first selection in the 2014 Draft, taking Wichita State first baseman Casey Gillaspie with the 20th overall pick.
In his junior year with the Shockers, the 21-year-old hit .389 / .520 / .682 with 15 home runs and 50 RBI in 59 games. He also played in the Cape Cod Baseball League in 2013, hitting .321 with 8 home runs in 47 games in the collegiate wooden bat league.
Gillaspie's older brother Conor is currently in his second season with the Chicago White Sox after playing parts of three years with the San Francisco Giants.
