Already without Matt Moore, the Rays rotation took another hit Sunday when Alex Cobb was placed on the disabled list.
Though it appears Cobb's injury is nowhere near as serious as Moore's, it does force the Rays to have now three unproven hurlers out of their five with only David Price and Chris Archer as the relatively steady members.
The injury is a left oblique strain. Cobb said he hopes to only miss a couple of weeks. Erik Bedard will likely take his spot, which first comes up Thursday in Baltimore.
Reliever Jeff Beliveau was called up from Durham in the corresponding roster move.
In THIS post by Times Rays beat writer Marc Topkin, Chris Archer speculates Cobb was injured while performing the batting duties a pitcher must take on during interleague play.
