The Rays started a critcal 10-game road trip on Monday in Oakland. Alex Cobb took the ball against the Athletics, and while he labored through 5.2 innings he gave his team a chance to win.

After working out of a bases-loaded jam in the bottom of the first, the Rays got on the board courtesy of an Evan Longoria solo homerun. Cobb found himself in trouble once again in the second inning but once again was able to leave the bases-loaded for the A’s.

In the bottom of the third Oakland tied the game up when Josh Reddick singled and then scored on a Jed Lowrie double. Tampa bay would reclaim the lead in the fifth when Desmond Jennings drove in Kevin Keimaier with two-outs in the inning,

Alex Cobb once again coughed up the Rays lead in the sixth inning after giving up a two-out single to Josh Donaldson scoring Eric Sogard. The game would remain tied until the tenth inning. The Athletics loaded up the bases and with two outs Derek Norris delivered the game winning hit.

The Rays drop the opener of this three game series 3-2. Tampa Bay and Oakland are back at it again tomorrow night with first pitched scheduled for 10:05 PM. The Suncoast Hyundai Dealers Inside Pitch will start our coverage at 9pm on 620 WDAE.
