After the Yankees beat the Rays on a Derek Jeter ninth-inning hit Sunday, Rays manager Joe Maddon wasn't in the mood to join the Jeter Adoration Society.

Though he's fully aware of Jeter's tremendous career, the loud and plentiful cheering that followed the Jeter hit irked Maddon to the point where he had to address it in his postgame comments to the media.

"I understand that people like Derek Jeter. But you've got to come out and root for the Rays too.. you understand? I'm not going to sit here and defend all that noise in the Yankees' favor in our ballpark," Maddon said.

Saturday's game was just the second sellout of the season at the Trop but many of the fans were wearing Yankees colors.
