While trying to guess what might happen to David Price is a big current topic among Rays fans, it's always good to hear from someone a little more in the know.

And WDAE provided a double dose of that Wednesday. Marc Topkin spoke with Rays owner Stuart Sternberg before the Rays' 2-1 Tuesday victory in New York, and naturally got a sense for whether to expect a trade of the team's ace.

Tampa Bay's recent play (five wins in six games) has made it tougher in effect give up on the season, something a trade of Price would signal. And after taking to Sternberg, Topkin told WDAE's the Sports Page the team will at least wait a couple weeks.

"It's allowed the Rays to say they're going to use the whole field here," Topkin said of the winning stretch. "It certainly sounds like what Sternberg is wait now and look around, see how they're doing, see how the division looks. And, assess this a couple of weeks going forward."
