According to CBSSports.com Gary Parrish, the University Of South Florida is set to hire Manhattan Head Coach Steve Masiello as the next head basketball coach replacing the recently departed Stan Heath.

Masiello has been recommended highly by current Louisville head coach Rick Pitino who called Masiello a "grand slam" as a coaching candidate.

Masiello originally met Rick Pitino while a ball boy for the New York Knicks and later managed to secure a position as a walk on at the University of Kentucky.  Upon graduating from UK he made stops as an assistant at Tulane, Manhattan and the University of Louisville before accepting the Head Coaching position with Manhattan three seasons ago.

During his three seasons at Manhattan Masiello recorded a 60-39 record and in 2014 they won the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championship before being eliminated in the round of 64 by Pitino's Louisville Cardinals.

USF has yet to confirm any hire to WDAE.
