Rays Part Ways With Jumbo Diaz

The Tampa Bay Rays have obviously seen enough of Jumbo Diaz, as the team designated the reliever for assignment following Sunday's loss to the Los Angeles Angels.

Diaz, who had appeared in 31 games with the Rays this season after being acquired from the Cincinnati Reds during Spring Training, went 1-4 with a 5.70 earned run average, including taking the loss Sunday after C.J Cron's eighth inning pinch-hit homer off Adam Kolarek drove in Andrelton Simmons, who had singled off Diaz earlier in the inning.

To take Diaz's place on the roster, reliever Andrew Kittredge, acquired during the offseason from the Seattle Mariners, was selected from Triple-A Durham.
