Snell Heading Back To Bigs

The Tampa Bay Rays have determined that Blake Snell has done enough to warrant a return to the big leagues.

The team announced prior to Sunday's game that the left-hander would be recalled from the Durham Bulls to start Wednesday's middle game against the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Snell went 0-4 with a 4.71 earned run average in eight starts with the Rays before being demoted to Triple-A.  Tampa Bay went 2-6 in games the 24-year-old started.

With the Bulls, Snell went 5-0 in seven starts with a 2.66 ERA, striking out 66 and walking just 15 in 44 innings of work.

The Rays will need to make a corresponding move to promote Snell, but have already announced that Erasmo Ramirez, who took the lefty's spot in the rotation when he was demoted, will go back to the bullpen.
