PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. (970 WFLA) – Pinellas Park Police are releasing more details on the carjacking that happened early Tuesday morning in the parking lot of a Clearwater hospital. And now, authorities are saying another carjacking happened just hours before.

Police say sometime in the 10:00 p.m. hour Monday night, a carjacking took place at the McDonalds on the 7900 block of Ulmerton Road and was investigated by the Largo Police Department. Hours later, Clearwater Police investigated a carjacking at the MortonPlantHospital just before 4:30 a.m. That car was spotted and followed until the driver crashed it into a fence on 94th Avenue, west of 66th Street in Pinellas Park, police said.

Then, police say the two suspects ran from the vehicle and authorities began a search. As a precaution, CrossBayouElementary school was placed on a "lockout" which prevented students from entering the school until we determined it to be safe. It was later determined safe, but then locked down again when students were heading in.

A short while later, one of suspect was in custody and an hour after, around 9:40, the second was in custody, according to police.

As a result, the following two teens were arrested and charged with a variety of crimes to include:

The Largo Police Department said it has only charged one of the suspects in the case of a carjacking at a McDonalds on Ulmerton. Police say they have charged the Edwin T. Washington with armed carjacking.

In this case, police say the 56-year-old victim, was in the drive through lane when he was approached by the suspect who stated he had a semi-automatic handgun and ordered him out of the car before taking the vehicle and fleeing the scene.
