PASCO COUNTY, Fla. (970 WFLA) - Hillsborough County Sheriff's officials say a suspect is in custody in Pasco County after a two-part chase that started in Hillsborough County.

HCSO said this all began as a domestic violence incident involving a man suspected of reckless driving. Deputies said the man then got into a hit and run on NB I-75 at the SR 60 exit. Deputies then chased him into Pasco County where they say he got off at SR 54 and stopped near a restaurant and contacted Pasco deputies.

Officials said Pasco deputies then placed stop sticks around the car. But then just before 5 a.m., deputies said he drove through the stop sticks and got back on I-75 with one tire damaged and reached 65 miles per hour. Then, deputies said he drove on a rim and stopped just north of SR 56.

Deputies said the suspect was then taken into custody and is being checked out at an area hospital.

All SB lanes of I-75 were closed for a short time in Pasco County just south of State Road 54, but all have since reopened.
